Hi, I’m Cooper!
I'm a visual communicator with expertise in branding, pitch deck design, and visual storytelling. I believe good design should delight users with intuitive visual experiences. I have a passion for taking things that are complex and information-dense and elevating them into beautiful, easy-to-digest stories.
For over 6 years, I’ve worked with fast-paced, client-focused teams, developing elegant design solutions for solopreneurs to Fortune 500 companies including brands such as Coca-Cola, The Nature Conservancy, Nestlé and General Motors.
Beyond being a designer, I have experience in marketing and copywriting. I attribute my relationship management skills to my brief foray into customer service. I've even worked internationally before, using my fluency in Portuguese to help expand a Brazilian marketing agency into the US.
I'm looking to bring my unique set of experiences to a company in the Detroit area that wants to simplify the complex, and increase connection through beautiful design solutions.
At Bain, I work in our client-facing Creative Services department, working on cases for the world’s most recognizable brands from Coke to Google. Using visual storytelling, I've helped win multi-million dollar contracts through presentation design and data visualization.
Undercurrent is an furniture project I started with my dad in our garage. It uses 100% post-consumer materials in utilitarian designs to maintain modern standards of comfort. As business grew, we needed a consistent, visually representative, eye-catching identity.
Vertex is a cloud-based 3D collaboration platform. As a part of the design team at Vertex I helped develop a consistent yet flexible brand identity including branded materials used across web, social, and email.
A selection of freelance work I’ve done in the past with a particular focus on illustration. Most of this work was completed during a period when I was exclusively working as a freelance creative consultant.
I grew up driving across the country from Iowa to Florida and have continued to road trip in lieu of other modes of transportation. There are so many things I love about driving and would love to talk more about it!
In the 80s, my grandparents in Nevada, IA, USA hosted an exchange student, Paulo from São José do Rio Pardo - SP, Brazil. This marked the beginning of a beautiful connection that would impact our families for generations. Nearly 40 years later, our families still swap exchange students and maintain close relationships, visiting each other frequently.
Staying active is important for my mental health and a critical piece of my design process. I've completed a marathon, a few halfs and handful of triathlons and recently, dealing with a knee injury, I've gotten back into swimming.
This year, my partner's employer was acquired by General Motors which has afforded us the opportunity to return to my family's roots in Detroit, MI. I grew up going to Charlevoix in the summer and Harbor Springs to ski in the winter. We're proud to bring the Martin family back to The Great Lakes State.
